FAQs –

What is a filter press machine?

A filter press machine is a device which is used to separate solids and liquids. A filter press machine consists of a chamber where the liquid is placed, along with a series of plates with holes in them. The plates are then placed on top of each other, then the liquid is forced through the holes with a pump. This leaves the solids left behind on the plates, and the liquids are then collected in a container.

Commonly used industries for filter press machines include food processing, pharmaceuticals, and chemical. Another commonly used area for filter press machines is environmental cleaning. This is because they can be used to recycle water, remove oil from water, and remove contaminants from water.

How do Filter Press Machines Work?

Firstly, whatever material needs to be filtered is fed into the filter press machine. Then, the pump contained within the machine creates a pressure difference between the two sides of the filter membrane. It is this pressure difference that forces the material through the membrane, allowing the desired particles to pass through. From here, the undesired particles are trapped on the other side of the membrane, and the filtered material is then collected on the other side of the machine.

How many types of filter press machines are there?

There are two main types of filter presses. These are recessed chamber (RC), & Plate and Frame (P&F).

RC filter presses are used in a wide variety of applications, from wastewater treatment to chemical processing. P&F filter presses are also commonly used in many different industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and even mining.

Both types of filter presses have their own advantages and disadvantages, therefore it’s important to choose the right type for your specific applications. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our experts at Fort Pro Quip who will be happy to help.
